Newsletter 3 May 2023
Principal's Message
Year 6 Leadership Badges have arrived!
Our Year 6 students will be presented with their badges next Monday morning (8 May), we invite all parents to come along at 9am. Morning tea will follow.
Yesterday we held our annual Whole School Cross Country event. Although the weather was terrible, the event still went ahead and our children had a wonderful afternoon running the course and supporting each other. We also had our first sibling race where big brothers and sisters of siblings not yet at school could run a short race with them.
Thank you to the staff and parents for ensuring this event could take place.
FIRST AID
All of our staff are appropriately First Aid certified, however there are times that we need to call parents to support their child's health and wellbeing. These decisions are not made lightly and are in response to our legal duty of care for our children. Please be supportive of staff when they contact you as we never want our children seriously hurt and if staff feel further treatment is needed, always try to notify parents quickly. Our Duty of Care Policy and associated Child Safe Policies are available on the school website.
Our Parents and Friends group have arranged several events and fundraisers. Please ensure you check the calendar and the P&F section in the newsletter. Plans are underway for a FAMILY FUN Night on October 27- please save the date! More details to follow.
Next Friday we celebrate our amazing mothers and special women in our lives. Mums are invited to breakfast at 8.30am. If any dads are able to help prepare breakfast from 8 am, can you please email the office.
National Road Safety Week is May 15-20. To kick off this initiative students are encouraged to meet at the Nar Nar Goon Hotel and walk to school with parents. The P&F ask you to meet at 8.15 and walk together to school.
Staff Update - Melissa Lynch has resigned from the PE position due to unforseen family circumstances. This position will be readvertised.
Kind regards,
Bec Kollaris, Principal

From the Year 6 Sports Leaders
Cross country was a really fun and exciting way to exercise but when the grade sixers were running there was an impressive thunder and hail storm. The year ones had a really close race between Kip and Sonny but Jack for preps was so fast he nearly beat the hare. Then towards the younger kids the rain got a lot better. The school leaders helped out by running in front and behind the younger kids to show and encourage them along the way. We really appreciate all of the parent helpers who made this cross country go ahead.

We have also added in loads of new equipment, games, craft and a sport zone for the children. We hope this is a place that children want to come to, not a place the children need to come to.
