Principal's Message

Year 6 Leadership Badges have arrived!

Our Year 6 students will be presented with their badges next Monday morning (8 May), we invite all parents to come along at 9am.  Morning tea will follow.

Yesterday we held our annual Whole School Cross Country event. Although the weather was terrible, the event still went ahead and our children had a wonderful afternoon running the course and supporting each other.  We also had our first sibling race where big brothers and sisters of siblings not yet at school could run a short race with them.

Thank you to the staff and parents for ensuring this event could take place.

FIRST AID

All of our staff are appropriately First Aid certified, however there are times that we need to call parents to support their child's health and wellbeing.  These decisions are not made lightly and are in response to our legal duty of care for our children. Please be supportive of staff when they contact you as we never want our children seriously hurt and if staff feel further treatment is needed, always try to notify parents quickly.  Our Duty of Care Policy and associated Child Safe Policies are available on the school website.

Our Parents and Friends group have arranged several events and fundraisers.  Please ensure you check the calendar and the P&F section in the newsletter.  Plans are underway for a FAMILY FUN Night on October 27- please save the date! More details to follow.

Next Friday we celebrate our amazing mothers and special women in our lives. Mums are invited to breakfast at 8.30am.  If any dads are able to help prepare breakfast from 8 am, can you please email the office.

National Road Safety Week is May 15-20.  To kick off this initiative students are encouraged to meet at the Nar Nar Goon Hotel and walk to school with parents.  The P&F ask you to meet at 8.15 and walk together to school.

Staff Update - Melissa Lynch has resigned from the PE position due to unforseen family circumstances.  This position will be readvertised.

Kind regards,
Bec Kollaris, Principal

Cross Country 2023

__________________________________________________________

From the Year 6 Sports Leaders

Cross country was a really fun and exciting way to exercise but when the grade sixers were running there was an impressive thunder and hail storm. The year ones had a really close race between Kip and Sonny but Jack for preps was so fast he nearly beat the hare. Then towards the younger kids the rain got a lot better. The school leaders helped out by running in front and behind the younger kids to show and encourage them along the way. We really appreciate all of the parent helpers who made this cross country go ahead.

Absences During School Term

Students enjoy more than 10 weeks holidays each year and therefore we do not encourage students to miss school unless there are extraordinary circumstances. We also acknowledge that there are occasions when family circumstances prevent attendance. These considerations must be taken into account when arranging holidays.
Please complete the attached form if your child/ren are going to be absent for more than 3 school days.  This Form is also accessible from the Forms section of Schoolzine

School Bus Mangement Syste

Important update for students who are approved for travel on the School Bus Program:  Upgrades
are being made to the School Bus Management System (SBMS).
To make this important change, the SBMS will be unavailable from COB Friday 5 May 2023 for a
period of time.
If you need help during this time, you can email the School Bus Program team on
schoolbus@education.vic.gov.au or call on 1800 338 663.

Before & After School Care News

Dear Families,
Welcome to DS Sports. We are now your OSHC Program, of which we are excited about the opportunity.
Please find attached our booklet which will outline our sign up process and what we will be offering you and your children.
We are also happy to let you know that every Tuesday & Thursday we will be providing a highly trained sports coach who will be delivering a designed sport program. This is all included within the price, no added fees.
We have also added in loads of new equipment, games, craft and a sport zone for the children.  We hope this is a place that children want to come to, not a place the children need to come to.
Opening times have been extended - Open - 6:30 am Close - 6:30 pm
Karen will be staying on as the program leader, supported by Naomi Perry who will be the OSHC Educational Leader and Compliance Officer.
We look forward to meeting you and your children.
Thank you
Steven Dillon Co-Founder
